Products, Processes, Services and Standards
that most other builders don't incorporate in their standard
homes
(And if they did, they would charge you more!)
1. We create entirely custom
architectural designs for each customer from scratch - based
on your personal Wants, Needs and Desires, resulting in a
truly "Custom" home.
2. Our basements have a
nine-foot minimum ceiling height. We use metal forms
Vs. rough wood forms, providing a truer wall. Our
walls are steel reinforced and "keyed" into the footings for
greater integrity.
2. We use a full 1/8" sprayed
on rubberized membrane Vs. thin sprayed on
tar for damp-proofing. In addition, we install
water-channeling Styrofoam to further waterproof and insulate
our basement walls. We provide a full 20-year unprecedented
waterproof guarantee on our basements plus an R-10 insulation.
4. We use oversized
I-Beams in the
basements and garage to dramatically reduce the need for
support columns, opening up the available space and possible
uses of the areas. Where
I-beams are joined
over long runs, we not only butt weld them but also join them
with an additional lap plate welded to the face of the beam to
provide unparalleled strength and continuity Vs.
a bolted on metal plate.
5. We use the engineered
"Silent Floor"
I-Joist System
Vs. standard joists, providing increased strength and
rigidity thereby reducing shrinking, squeaky floors and
ceiling cracks.
6. We use tongue and groove 3/4
inch "Advantech" Vs. standard OSB (Oriented
Strand Board) for our sub floors. OSB is susceptible to
swelling and wafer-lifting on its edges. Advantech has a full
50 yr. guarantee.
7. All of our floors are glued,
nailed and then screwed every 4 inches - Guaranteed, no
squeaks.
8. We use a combination of
covered Styrofoam and OSB sheathing on all exterior walls
Vs. 1/8" Thermoply. This provides improved
insulations and allows the house to better breath, keeping it
dryer.
9. We feature tear resistant
Dow Weather Wrap Vs. Tyvec or tarpaper - for
improved breathing & performance.
10. We install a double row of
ice & water shields in the roof valleys & all leading edges to
prevent leaks and we also install a minimum of a 9" "Energy
Heel" truss to prevent ice dams.
11. Every home has dimensional
shingles with a minimum of a 30-year warranty for trouble free
service.
12. We install rubber window
and door tape prior to siding or brickwork to ensure no leaks,
water or air.
13. We install continuous ridge
and soffit vents Vs. cut in cans and block
soffits to ensure proper venting.
14. We prep for 8' doors (or
transom windows) in all of the 1st floor interior doorways -
your choice.
15. Prior to drywall
installation, our own rough carpentry crew punches out all
areas as needed. Any interior studs that are imperfect are
"trued-up" after they have been in place for at least 30 days
and are more fully cured. We then plane their face or shim as
necessary ensuring a totally flat & straight wall surface.
This tedious procedure is a vital step to ensure our drywall
is flat and true, a Compo specialty.
16. We use superior "MiraTec"
composite trim Vs. spruce- no boring insects,
woodpeckers or maintenance.
17. we use superior composite
siding by Georgia Pacific & Hardie Vs. wood,
again - no maintenance.
18. We use low-e squared, argon
gas filled super insulated windows Vs.
standard - for a higher R-factor.
19. Our Energy Star, STAR+
insulation package includes R-10 basements, R-19 walls, R-14
walkouts, R-44 attics and even R-14 garages. We use super seal
plates, foam windows and then meticulously caulk even the
smallest joints - the best system available. Every step in our
procedure reduces your monthly heating & cooling costs.
20. Superior HVAC including
93%+ 2-stage furnaces, power humidifiers and high efficiency
A/C units, each one being zone controlled on each level with
programmable thermostats. We also include dynamic Electronic
Air Filters to pull out microscopic level pollutants
Vs. a standard heating and cooling system.
21. We provide 2 furnaces in
all full 2-story homes to ensure more even heat and cooling
distribution and to reduce air flow noise. Also, dual furnaces
are almost always more efficient than a single, larger unit.
22. Every home comes equipped
with a full 200-Amp electrical service. We also include whole
house surge protection to protect appliances and consumer
electronics.
23. We provide a water
equipment allowance, to include a water softener or a reverse
osmosis filtration system.
24. Our natural gas manifold
system allows convenient shut-off of individual runs to each
appliance. We use Parker Pipe, a plastic coated, corrugated,
stainless steel feed line to dramatically reduce the potential
for leaks.
25. We use a Dual Metered,
water manifold design featuring convenient shut off valves for
each hose bib with irrigation water control from one, easy to
access location. This system provides savings on your waste
water costs on every bill as well as optimum convenience and
control.
26. We cover all air
ductwork openings with temporary filtering covers during the
constructions process. This greatly reduces the accumulation
of building debris, dirt, dust and paint in the house
ductwork.
27. We include sound insulation
and solid core doors for all bedrooms, laundry and baths for
added privacy.
28. We use our own skilled
drywall crew to ensure drywall work that is superior to all
others.
29. We use our own trim
carpenters - not subcontracted - to provide perfect trim work
throughout.
30. Every house comes with full
3" window & door casing and 5" baseboards in "og" or Victorian
Profile
Vs. smaller trim. The end result is a more elegant
door and window presentation through out the house.
31. We are the tile contractor,
providing both savings and a wide selection of materials to
pick from. Our tile installers ensure superior design and
workmanship - unrivaled in the industry.
32. Our custom painters provide
a finish second to none. We feature Manor Hall by Pittsburgh
Paints and Sherwin Williams paint for their even application,
consistent finish & superb durability. The trim is first
primed and then finished with 3 coats of enamel for a super
smooth finish. Since the paint is your final surface, we
insist on the highest quality finish on each and every home.
33. Our custom stairway company
builds each stairway from scratch, specific to the home,
including hardwood rails, spindles and stringers. Our stairs
offer an extra degree of customization to our homes.
34. As appliance dealers, we
buy direct for the most popular brands, providing you with
additional savings.
35. Every home includes
oversized 5" color matched gutters and downspouts Vs.
the smaller standard that most builders use. This seemingly
minor item greatly reduces freezing, backups and water damage.
36. We provide Dual, Tandem
50-Gallon water heaters with every home to ensure
uninterrupted hot water even with heavy use. By plumbing them
in tandem, we can ensure that our homeowners will always have
hot water - even if one heater requires service.
37. We provide superior
attention to detail through out the entire job with our name
on the line for each customer. Tour any of our homes and this
will be evident throughout the entire job.
38.We have contracted with "ProHome,"
a national, independent 3rd party warranty management company to
ensure customer satisfaction on all warranty related issues for
the first year of ownership, providing an 800 number to initiate
all customer service needs 24/7.
39. Utilizing "The Warranty
Group," we also provide our customers with an extended
insurance policy covering select appliances for the 2nd through
the 5th year of ownership. Claims can be made through an
800 number 24/7.
